Well said; but the two major political parties are in the way. They represent the status quo. Their patchwork of interests will inevitably resist any substantial change, because change benefits some interests and hurts others — hence gridlock.
In order to undertake any extensive program of change, the stranglehold of the Democratic and Republican parties needs to be broken.
That is why I have a deaf ear to things like the Green New Deal, even though I agree that what we need is leadership, because I know it is impossible — we would need an immensely charismatic, broadly popular — essentially unstoppable — and visionary leader, which we don’t have. Thus first we need to achieve something like this: FairVote.org.
