We should not confuse "feeling" or "consciousness" with cognition. There is no reason to believe that consciousness or feeling are needed to "think". AGI is about thinking.
In fact, there is compelling (but not conclusive) evidence that human feeling and consciousness are experienced _after_ the actual thought occurs - i.e. when we feel, we are actually experiencing a memory. Again, the evidence on that is not conclusive, but it is compelling.
