Very true.
We often hear about the original Scrum "product game" paper from 1986, yet that team was hand-picked very carefully.
Having someone on a team who is aggressive, overly persuasive, dogmatic, or uncooperative can ruin a team.
On the other hand, it is important that a team not rule by majority over issues of how people get their work done. E.g., suppose in a team of 6, four people want everyone to come into a physical office, and 2 do not. Should the team vote, and impose a work style on the minority? What if the team votes that everyone must pair, but two people don't work well that way?
Removing a "bad apple" is sometimes necessary; but we also need to be careful not to be tyrannical through democracy - the "tyranny of the majority".
