Very good points.
But (sorry for having a but), "nuclear power is very expensive today" mostly because it is dangerous, and so it needs strict regulation, and that multiplies the cost. (BTW, I am a former nuclear engineer.)
Also, it is likely that future fusion reactors will be much smaller than the giant Tokamaks of today, as we are able to make more powerful but compact magnetic field generation systems.
But I agree with the overall point: fusion will not solve our energy needs any time soon.
