“The problem? The size and cost of production would be astronomical.”

Not with SpaceX’s new architecture. The “Starship” vehicle can launch very large structures. A ring structure could be sent up in pieces and assembled.

Given SpaceX’s methods, I bet they could do it for one tenth the cost of the other aerospace companies — especially if it is for SpaceX’s use, rather than a government contract.
