That is an extrovert's point of view. I my self do not like those little chats. I like being around people, but I detest small talk. When I am working I want to focus on the work. And little interruptions are really destructive to my focus. I am also far more creative when I completely block out noise and visual distraction. I realize that not everyone is like that, but a lot of people are. We need to be careful in assuming that in-person is better for everyone: it is not. And being remote is also not best for everyone. People vary.
