Simple:
- That I would have to pay for it; and,
- I would see little — if any — of the benefits.
It would be like every other US national (Federal) program — a hugely inefficient and corrupt giveaway that would take from me and give to others.
I am in the 1% income-wise, but it just barely get by in my area of the country — northern Virginia. An average house around here costs $1M. At 63, I don’t have enough to retire, and Social Security would barely make a dent in my townhouse rent; yet the government treats me like I am rich. Guess what: I am not!
So my fear is that if we expand “social programs” — like basic income — that I will have even less remaining each month — and get nothing in return! Meanwhile, some folks in a low rent area will be living off of the basic income that I would be paying for!
