In a multi-component, multi-product ecosystem, most teams cannot be self-managing.

The way that the Scrum Guide describes servant leadership is incorrect. If one reads the original paper defining servant leadership, it is very different from what Scrum describes. In the original paper, a servant leader is still a leader, and team members "follow" the leader (that word is used in the paper). The leader provides direction and makes decisions. But team members follow because they trust the leader - not because of their positional power. The Scrum Master role is different from that, and that is one of the reasons why the Scrum Master role is often so ineffective and problematic, and why there are so many articles (such as this one) trying to explain why "Scrum Masters Fail".
