Scrum just confuses everyone and causes swirl as they constantly redefine the role - https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/scrum-very-confused-leadership-cliff-berg/
It is evident that the Scrum definers have had a poor grasp on what kinds of leadership a team needs, and they have been learning like a bunch of junior programmers - so why do people listen to them?
The _reality_ is that teams need leadership. That is why Agile 2 has such a strong focus on the kinds of leadership that are needed for group endeavors to be successful. There is a lot of literature on leadership. Scrum is not the place to look. I not only recommend the Agile 2 book, but I also recommend David Marquet's "Turn the Ship Around" for starters.
