Perhaps these digital assistants need to refrain from answering questions that interpret or summarize content from the Internet. We certainly don’t want political correctness imposed on their answers — that would be very Orwellian.

Today’s machine learning systems do not truly understand what they are doing. They are pattern recognition and pattern generation systems. They are like ants: they can appear intelligent by what they do, but they are not. Some day they will be intelligent, but that is not where things are at today.

So why would someone want to ask an ant a philosophical question?
