People often forget that an economic collapse causes harm too — and most of that harm is to those who are vulnerable economically.

We are at war against a virus. Wars have casualties — there is no avoiding it. We need to plan to win the war. If we let our economy collapse, we lose the war.

Those who are least vulnerable, based on the latest data, need to be our soldiers: they need to be back at work, keeping us economically strong. If we become weak, we cannot fund WHO, or the CDC, or future institutions that will prepare for the next pandemic — which will surely come.

And in collapsing our economy, we sacrifice those who are economically vulnerable.

Instead of all cowering in our homes, those who are least vulnerable need to be out there fighting — i.e., working.
