Pelosi dislikes the “squad” because she knows that they threaten the Democratic party’s chances of winning in 2020.

The middle still does exist — and most people are in it. I did not vote for Trump, and I have spoken to my Democrat-voting neighbors, as well as a group of Democrat activists who organize in our local Starbucks, and they all want something done to control the massive flow of illegal immigration. Also, Trump followed through in his promise to clamp down on the abuse of the H1B visa program — something that my Democrat voting IT colleagues have noticed and benefited greatly from.

If you talk to people, you find out that most of them are not well represented by either the Democratic party of the Republican party. The GOP has indeed shifted far to the right; but just as so, the Democratic party has shifted far to the left. So-called “progressive” (clever name) is socialism in disguise, and most Americans don’t want that. It is a failed 20th century model, just as is capitalism.

We need new ideas — until we have some viable new ideas, Americans want moderate change. Elizabeth Warren is the only Dem candidate who I see proposing new ideas that are aligned with what Americans want. Big government and nanny state is not what most Americans want — Democrat or Republican. Americans want protection from big corporations — they don’t want the government to provide their health care (God help us).

I agree with some commenters that the Left is talking to itself: that the diatribe is cementing in support for Trump. The lack of fair dialog on both sides drives division: failure to acknowledge the legitimate concerns of the other side causes them to stop listening. Calls for impeachment are seen by GOP voters as proof that the Left has lost its mind: Trump’s actions were not found to be illegal, and no Trump voter or moderate thinks that failing to cooperate with an obvious witch hunt is unforgivable.

Pelosi knows these things. She wants Democrats to win in 2020. Pelosi has no vision or original ideas: she is a pure politician. The Democrats should probably listen to her if they want to win.
