My wife went to the Social Security office to learn if she is entitled to any benefits. She waited in line for two hours and had to leave. She tried again a few days later, waited more than two hours and had to leave again. That’s the government’s idea of service, and some people want the government to provide our medical care…
But what was most curious was that she noticed that almost everyone there — except for only a few people and herself — appeared to be foreign born. And young — not old.
What were they doing there? What benefits are they applying for?
My sister noticed the same thing when she went to the Social Security office a year ago.
So it is no wonder that there will not be funds left for me. I have been paying into Social Security for 40 years, at the rate of 12% of my income (6% from me, and 6% from my employer). If I had put that money away instead, compound interest would have accumulated and I would not have a million dollars from that money. Instead, the Social Security administration says I could get something like $2000/month — about a tenth of what I earn — and they tax it to boot.
It’s a big scam. They are giving the money away to others. Young people. People who have not paid into it. It is criminal.
