It is important to not let yourself feel like a victim. I am glad that you took the email to the police — not because they would do anything, but because it meant that you did not just accept the bullying.

Remember that those who bully women are a very small minority. Unfortunately, the Internet has wide reach, and so even 1% is a-lot of people.

Here is a possible response: Have ten male friends write back to the person, telling him to f***-off, that he is a monster, and that they — the ten male friends — don’t appreciate what he is doing, and that they might find out who he is with some Internet forensics.

Don’t let the asshole provoke you into bad behavior that could be published, but show him that you are not afraid, that you are strong, and that you have support.

Makes me think that maybe we need an organization that helps women respond to online harassment.
