In the words of Ron Jeffries, an author of the Agile Manifesto, “Agile”1 has become big business. Led, no doubt, by the Scrum Alliance’s successful Certified ScrumMaster offering…The picture is not so attractive for developers…”

In the words of Dave Thomas, another of the authors of the Agile Manifesto: “The word “agile” has been subverted to the point where it is effectively meaningless…let’s protect it from those who would take the soul of our ideas in order to sell it back to us.”

The Serious Scrum Medium series is an intentional effort to promote Scrum and the businesses that depend on it. It tries to perpetuate the idea that Agile needs Scrum, and that Scrum equals Agile. The fact is, today DevOps is a far, far better model for Agile than Scrum.
