I would say, what is the point of having a leader who does not understand the team's work? The Scrum Master role is a form of leadership. The role itself makes no sense. Someone in a leadership role on a technical team should take it upon themself to learn enough about how the team does its work so that they can understand the technical discussions. Take some courses on DevOps; learn some coding. You don't have to become an engineer - you just need to experience these things so that you can follow discussions.
