I wish we would release Puerto Rico. Why does the US take care of Puerto Rico? The author wrote, “Nearly 1,300 earthquakes have hit the island’s southern region in a swarm that began on December 28”. Seems like it is not a good place to live. Why should the US invest in a place that is inherently dangerous?

The author states that “Americans have never cared about Puerto Rico”. I would ask, Do Puerto Ricans care about Virginia? (where I live) I expect not — and that is okay.

If Puerto Rico cannot get by without frequent help from other nations, then maybe people should abandon it and move to places that are not so risky. Even a city on Mars will be expected to become self-sustaining at some point. Puerto Rico needs to be self-sufficient.
