I just wanted to share an experience I just had.

I learned that I can store my vaccination record in my iPhone, by using the health department's QR code. So I opened the phone camera and it said "Open in Firefox". I clicked that, and nothing happened.

I then changed by default browser back to Safari and tried again, this time it "worked", but the health app did not come up. I then remembered that I had uninstalled it since I was not using it. So I went to the App Store and found it and there was not an Install button - there was only an Open button. I clicked that. The App Store then showed me a bunch of info on the app, but the health app did not open. It is not among the icons on my phone. I have not been able to figure out how to reinstall the damned thing - the iPhone thinks it is installed but it is not.

I then looked up instructions for installing a vaccine record using a QR code, and it said to "tap the health app notification". Hmmm - notification? I have all notifications turned off, because I don't like my phone interrupting me all day when I am driving, reading, working, etc. So I re-enabled notifications for the health app and tried again. But still nothing.

Ironically, I was doing all this for health reasons, but at this point I could feel my blood pressure inching up.

I finally gave up.

On my laptop I almost never fail to figure out how to make something work. But the phone is a confusing mess because they try to make things automatic, but the result is that if you have anything set out of the ordinary, things don't work right.
