Hi — the desire to settle Mars is not about benefits to Earth. It is about creating a new community on Mars. It is about expanding our horizon.

So often I hear comments of the kind “how does it benefit it?” or “we should save Earth before we go to Mars”. Those comments seem logical, but miss the point entirely.

The same comments could be made about art, science, sports — indeed any human pursuit. We do those things because we want to — not because we need to. Space settlement is no different.

Not everyone wants it; but many do. We should all respect each others hopes and dreams! :-)
