Hi George. It is not a trick. Most of human thinking - what Daniel Kahneman called "System 1" thinking, is very analogous to what LLMs do.

It is only human System 2 thinking that involves reasoned analysis, but there is a huge effort underway now to duplicate that as well. It's no trick - it is emulating what our minds do.
