Article in the Guardian: “Israelis held over alleged rape freed as British accuser is arrested”
Even if this is a minority event, it happens. (As my other post here recounts, serious false accusation has happened to me on multiple occasions.) And if one group is given absolute power over another, we will have exchanged one tyranny for another, and that is not progress.
Progress would be that women are treated respectfully and fairly by most men, and men are treated respectfully and fairly by most women. And that gender based hate would be rare — no claims that “all men are this” or “all women are that”. Accusers — male or female — would be taken seriously; but individuals should be assumed to be innocent unless there is proof otherwise.
The unfortunate reality is that men and women who don’t know each other well are not safe alone together. That is an inconvenient fact, but it is a fact. That is the wake-up call that we all need.
