A lot of laughter is performance.
I also hate standups, but when I have been in them, I _kind of_ enjoy it, but when it is over, I feel much more joy than I did in the standup, even though I appeared to be enjoying it. And I then need a break to recover my equanimity - it takes awhile to get back into a sense of well being. Standups kind of make me frazzled. It feels like an interrogation.
Introvert-leaning people don't like being in groups. And that does not mean that there is something wrong with them. It is just how a large portion of the population is.
